French Lawmakers Vote to Ban BPA in All Food Packaging

The French National Assembly has voted to ban bisphenol A (BPA) in all food packaging materials beginning in 2014. The vote follows a recent report by the France’s national food safety agency Anses (Paris) that links BPA to adverse health effects “even at low levels of exposure.” That report caused French Health Minster Xavier Bertrand to announce his support for the measure.
