French Farm and Seed Groups Appeal GMO Ban

French farmers and seed firms are appealing a March 16th decision by the French government to ban Monsanto’s genetically modified maize, MON810. Plaintiffs include The General Association of Maize Growers (AGPM), the French Union of Seed (UFS) and the Federation of Inter-producing maize and sorghum (FNPSMS).  The ban is not based on any scientific evidence, and corn growers affected by corn borer pests suffer economically, according to a group statement.
