Kemira reports lower sales and earnings, starts up coagulants plant in Spain

Kemira (Helsinki) today reported a drop in first-quarter Ebit and lower revenues due mainly to divestments and unfavorable currency exchange rates. Operating Ebit was down 14%, to €36.3 million ($50.2 million), on 6% lower revenue of €529.9 million. Operating Ebit—excluding the impact of food and pharma business divested on 1 March 2013 and formic acid operations sold on 6 March 2014—increased 12%, to €37 million. The corresponding Ebitda improved to €58.3 million compared with €53 million in the year-earlier period. ...
