Kemira and Rockwood Merge TiO2 Businesses

Kemira and Rockwood Holdings say they have agreed to combine their respective specialty titanium dioxide (TiO2) businesses and the functional additives business owned by Rockwood into a joint venture. Rockwood would hold a 61% share of the jv and Kemira, 39%. The combined businesses had 2007 proforma revenues of about €560 million ($868 million). The deal is subject to approval by competition authorities and is expected to close during the third quarter. Ghasemi: Expanding TiO2 offerings.
