Improved Demand; Favorable Currency Exchange Rates Lift Danisco's Earnings

 Danisco reported a 31% jump in profits for its fiscal first quarter ended July 31 because of improved business conditions in all four divisions, especially sweeteners, and favorable currency exchange rates. Profits were DKK 402 million ($71 million) on sales up 13%, to DKK 3.9 billion. Organic growth accounted for 5% of the sales gain, and currency exchange rates, 8%, Danisco says.
