Borealis Expands and Upgrades Polypropylene Capacity

Borealis says it will invest €90 million ($116 million) to expand and upgrade its polypropylene (PP) capacity. The company will invest €25 million at Porvoo, Finland to expand PP capacity by 65,000 m.t./year, to 220,000 m.t./year by the end of 2008. It will invest €35 million to add a fourth gas-phase reactor at the company’s Borstar-process PP unit at Schwechat, Austria for completion in 2009.
