Wacker Receives EU Approval for Use of Gamma-Cyclodextrin in Food

Wacker Chemie (Munich) says it has received approval from the European Commission for the use of gamma-cyclodextrin as a novel food ingredient for foodstuffs and beverages in the EU. "The EU approval is a very positive one for us and a further step toward strengthening our position as global market leader for cyclodextrins," says Gerhard Schmid, president of the company's life sciences and fine chemicals division, Wacker biosolutions.
