Regions :: Western Europe :: Belgium Total Commissions MTO Pilot Plant12:25 PM MDT | October 3, 2008 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Total Petrochemicals has inaugurated a €45-million ($65 million) pilot plant at Feluy, Belgium that will demonstrate novel technologies to produce olefins and polyolefins from methanol. The plant uses the UOP-Hydro methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process to convert methanol into ethylene and propylene, as well as heavy olefins. The heavy olefins are converted mainly into propylene using the UOP-Total olefin cracking process. All of the ethylene and propylene is converted into polyolefins at a pilot polymerization unit at Total’s Feluy R&D center. About... This information is only available to Chemical Week subscribers.
