Solvay to Buy Arkema?

Arkema's share price has been rising for the past month on investor speculation that the company may be an acquisition target for Solvay. The speculation follows Solvay's announcement in September that it has agreed to sell its pharmaceuticals business to Abbott Laboratories for €4.5 billion. Solvay says it plans to reinvest proceeds from the divestment in the company's chemicals and plastics businesses, and analysts say Solvay may use the funds to make a major acquisition.
