Degussa, the predecessor of Evonik Degussa, was originally fined €118 million in July 2002 by the European Commission for conspiring to fix the price of methionine between 1986 and 1999. The European Court of First Instance, the European Union’s lower court, reduced the fine to €91.1 million in April 2006, since Degussa had cooperated with the commission’s investigation. The court...
