EU production of chemicals increased in first five months, but output slipped in May

Output of chemicals increased 1.8% in the European Union during the first five months of 2014 compared with the corresponding period of last year, Cefic says. However, chemicals output decreased year-on-year (YOY) in May—the first monthly decline after eight successive monthly increases. Cefic has not said how much production declined in May but that the decrease is a "blip" and that the overall production trend remains firm.
