EU chemical output down 1.6% in January

EU chemical output decreased by 1.6% during January compared with the same period in 2012, according to the latest Chemicals Trends Report published by Cefic today. Consumer chemical output rose by almost 1% during January, but the overall EU chemical production index was "dragged down by petrochemicals, which fell by 3.6% year-on-year," Cefic says. Polymer production and specialty chemical output were also down in January by 1.3% and 0.6%, respectively, compared with January last year.
