EU Sets Limits on Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate in Cosmetics

The European Commission has issued a directive ruling that from March 2011 ethyl lauroyl arginate, a preservative, may only be used in concentrations of less than 0.8% in cosmetics. The ruling is part of a set of new controls on cosmetics that features a series of recommendations from the European Union’s (EU) Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety.   The commission published the rules for the directive in its official journal on Monday February 1.
