Court dismisses appeals against 2008 European Commission fines for aluminum fluoride price-fixing

The European General Court (Luxembourg) has dismissed appeals against a June 2008 European Commission decision fining several companies for their participation in a price-fixing cartel in the markets for aluminum fluoride. The court entirely upheld the commission decision. The court ordered the two appellants to pay the original fine and bear the legal costs incurred by the commission during the appeal. The appeal was brought by Fluorsid (Assemini, Italy) and Minmet Financing Co. (Lausanne, Switzerland), two of the companies fined a combined €1.6 million...
