Cefic urges caution on proposed modernization of EU trade defense instruments

Cefic has reacted with caution to a proposal to modernize European Union trade defense instruments, presented by the European Commission today. The EU chemical industry supports the modernization of trade defense instruments but this cannot take place at the risk of weakening the position of manufacturers, Cefic says. “We need a tool with sharp teeth to combat dual pricing, export duties, and subsidies that unfairly hit us,” says Hubert Mandery, director general at Cefic.
