Solvay posts 14% fall in profits, lower sales

Solvay's recurring Ebitda (Rebitda) for the second quarter declined 14%, to €487 million, compared with the corresponding period of 2012. Net sales were down 4%, to €3.06 billion. Ebit was €223 million, less than half the figure of €474 million for the comparable quarter of 2012. Net income fell to €148 million versus €239 million for second-quarter 2012.
