Borealis to Close Two Melamine Plants in Austria

Borealis says it will permanently close two melamine plants with a combined capacity of 30,000 m.t./year at its Linz, Austria site. One of the units, a 10,000 m.t./year facility, was decommissioned in January 2010. The second unit, a 20,000 m.t./year melamine manufacturing facility will be closed on June 27th.   The two plants use outdated low pressure melamine production technology and would require high capital expenditure, the company says. Instead, Borealis is focusing on improvements in its high pressure process plants, including production at Linz...
