Sumitomo Seika inaugurates superabsorbents plant in France

Sumitomo Seika today inaugurated a superabsorbents plant at Carling, France, in the presence of its CEO, Yusuke Ueda. The investment has raised capacity at the Carling site to 47,000 m.t./year and will help Sumitomo Seika meet increasing superabsorbents demand in Europe.   Sumitomo Seika acquired Arkema’s superabsorbents business in 2008. Arkema supplies Sumitomo Seika with acrylic acid, the monomer used in the production of superabsorbents. The plant, onstream since the summer, has reached full production capacity.
