Retailer H&M to Phase out Perfluorinated Compounds

Leading retailer H & M Hennes & Mauritz (H&M; Stockholm) has banned the use of perfluorinated compounds (PFC) in the company's products. All orders placed on January 1, 2013, or later will be produced without PFCs, the company says. H&M uses PFCs to achieve water repellence, mainly on outerwear garments, as well as on shower curtains and tents.
