Regions :: Western Europe Odfjell Orders Four Chemical Tankers from Korean Shipbuilder10:52 AM MDT | July 31, 2012 | Sotirios Frantzanas Odfjell says it has signed a shipbuilding contract with Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (Ulsan, Korea) for the construction of four chemical tankers, each of 46,000 dwt m.t. design draft with 22 coated cargo tanks. The price of the contract is around $160 million. The company also signed an option agreement for four additional sister vessels at the same price. The design of the new ships will be eco-friendly and energy efficient, and they will replace a number of old vessels that Odfjell has recycled during recent years, the company says.
