Regions :: Western Europe Kemira Reports Improved Earnings; Continues to Focus on Water Chemistry3:52 AM MDT | July 29, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Kemira (Helsinki) reported a 52% increase in opeating profit in the second quarter of this year to €44.5 million ($57.8 million) on 12% higher sales of €545.2 million. Operating profit, excluding non-recurring items, rose 38% to €40.5 million. Profit before tax totalled €37.3 million and earnings per share from continuing operations was €0.17. Net profit, excluding the Tikkurila paints business, which was separated from Kemira on March 26, 2010, was €27.3 million. The recovery in demand, which started at the end of the first quarter...
