Germany's chemical sales $64 billion in first quarter, up 5%

Chemical industry association VCI (Frankfurt) says that the German chemical industry achieved high sales in first-quarter 2014 on the back of strong domestic demand. The strong fourth quarter of 2013 continued into first-quarter 2014, with more or less stable prices for chemical products and a minor decrease, 0.8%, in production, according to VCI. Business activity picked up in Europe, demand from the United States and Asia/Pacific dropped.
