European Union gives green light to free trade agreement negotiation with United States

The member states of the European Union have given the green light to a comprehensive free trade agreement with the United States, German chemical industries association VCI (Frankfurt) says in a statement. The first major hurdle was taken with the adoption of the negotiating mandate for the European Commission. Such an agreement, which the chemical industry in Germany has been demanding for some time, brings many advantages for both parties, VCI says.
