EU General Court rejects Arkema, Elf Aquitaine appeals against price-fixing fines

The European General Court (Luxembourg) has ruled against appeals intended to overturn fines levied by the European Commission on Elf Aquitaine, Arkema, and consulting firm Treuhand (Zurich) for their participation in two price-fixing cartels, the court announced today. Elf Aquitaine merged with the former TotalFina, and the merged entity has operated under the Total name since 2003. Arkema was created in 2004 as Total spun off parts of its chemical business.
