EU Approves New Biocides Regulations

The European Parliament approved earlier this month a proposal for new legislation to harmonize the various regulations for biocides in the European Union (EU). The new Biocidal Products Regulation, as it will be known, will replace the EU’s current directive on biocidal products as of September 1, 2013. The regulation has been changed to better protect human health and the environment by requiring tougher safety checks, while streamlining the market approval process for biocidal products.
