ECHA says no justification for reexamination of restriction on DINP, DIDP plasticizers

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA; Helsinki) has published its final review of the risk assessment of diisononyl phthalate (DINP) and diiosodecyl phthalate (DIDP). The substances are used as plasticizers, mainly for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in a variety of applications. ECHA concludes that a risk from exposure to DINP and DIDP arising from children placing toys or child-care articles in the mouth cannot be excluded, were the existing restriction to be lifted.
