Ciba to Sell De-Inking Unit

Specialty vegetable fat producer AAK (Stockholm) says it will buy Ciba Specialty Chemicals’ de-inking business at Raisio, Finland. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Chemicals for de-inking, which remove ink from recycled paper, are based on special fatty acids. Ciba’s de-inking chemical unit has sales of SK25 million/year ($4 million).
