Bayer makes board changes, CEO to step down end 2016

Bayer’s supervisory board today made a number of board changes. The tenure of Marijn Dekkers, as chairman and CEO, has been extended by just two years on expiry of his initial five-year period. Dekkers cited family reasons for extending his contract only until the end of 2016. Bayer says that in order to ensure continuity in key aspects of the company’s future development, the supervisory board has appointed Werner Baumann, currently CFO, as Chief Strategy and Portfolio Officer, effective 1 October 2014.
