BASF develops certified process for flexible use of renewable feedstocks in integrated production

BASF says it has developed an innovative, mass-balanced process for using renewable feedstocks in integrated production. The process has been developed in collaboration with TÜV Süd (Munich), an independent certification organization. The process uses biomass as a feedstock in manufacturing basic chemicals in existing plants. Up to 100% of the fossil-based raw material can be replaced in the end product, which can be marketed accordingly, BASF says.
