Akzo Unveils Plans for Remote-Controlled Chlorine Plants

Akzo Nobel unveiled plans yesterday to operate small-scale chlorine production units at customers’ plants in Europe, via remote control. Engineering and construction firm Uhde (Dortmund, Germany) will construct the plants, and Uhdenora (Milan) will supply the electrolysis cell technology for the plants. Remote controlled plants will cut down on transportation-related hazards, and will be better for the environment, Akzo says.
