Thai Oil and Mitsui & Co. form Labix JV, Hyundai awarded contract

Thai Oil, via its wholly owned subsidiary Thai Paraxylene Co. (TPX), and Mitsui & Co. have formed a joint venture, Labix, to build Southeast Asia’s first integrated linear alkylbenzene (LAB) complex at Thai Oil’s Sriracha, Thailand, refinery. Labix is owned 75% by TPX and 25% by Mitsui. Thai Oil last year announced plans to build the LAB plant. The facility will be designed to produce 100,000 m.t./year and is expected onstream in 2015.
