Map Ta Phut is home to most of the country’s chemical industry. The Central Administrative Court had ordered the suspension of the projects in September 2009 for non-compliance with environmental and health regulations, following protest campaigns by local residents and environmental groups over alleged pollution from plants at Map Ta Phut.
