Thai Court Lifts Ban on Map Ta Phut Projects

The Central Administrative Court (Bangkok) has lifted a ban on 74 of the 76 suspended projects at the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Thailand, say press reports. Map Ta Phut is home to most of the country’s chemical industry. The Central Administrative Court had ordered the suspension of the projects in September 2009 for non-compliance with environmental and health regulations, following protest campaigns by local residents and environmental groups over alleged pollution from plants at Map Ta Phut.
