Siam Cement’s Chemicals Business Reports Rise in Profits and Sales

SCG Chemicals, the chemical subsidiary of Siam Cement Group (SCG; Bangkok), has recorded a 57% rise in net profits for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011, to baht4.8 billion ($160 million), compared to the year-ago period. Sales increased 67%, to baht48.4 billion mainly due to the additional volume from the new second chemicals complex, Map Ta Phut Olefins, in Rayong province, Thailand.
