Court Ruling Halts Siam Cement’s 18 Projects at Map Ta Phut

About 18 of Siam Cement Group’s (SCG; Bangkok) 20 petchem projects at the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Thailand will be halted following a previously announced court order to suspend new projects at the estate due to environmental concerns, say press reports. The 18 projects involved a total investment of about $1.74 billion, reports add. Map Ta Phut is home to 76 industrial plants including most of the country's chemical industry.
