PTT Phenol plans capacity expansion

PTT Phenol (Bangkok), a wholly owned subsidiary of PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC; Bangkok), will invest about $348 million in a project called Phenol 2, which will increase the company’s phenol capacity by 250,000 m.t./year and acetone capacity by 155,000 m.t./year. PTT Phenol currently produces 200,000 m.t./year of phenol; 124,000 m.t./year of acetone; and 150,000 m.t./year of bisphenol A at its Map Ta Phut facility.
