Regions :: Southeast Asia :: Singapore Wacker Chemie Restructures Siltronic and Silicones; Cuts Jobs7:20 AM MDT | July 8, 2009 | Natasha Alperowicz Wacker Chemie has embarked on a site optimization program at its Wacker Siltronic silicon wafers manufacturing subsidiary, which aims to consolidate production according to the wafers' diameters. In addition, it is looking at costs savings in its silicones business. The company expects to cut close to 800 jobs in total from these operations, accounting for about 5% of Wacker Chemie's total workforce. 450 of the jobs will go at Siltronic and 330 at Wacker Silicones.
