Shell’s Singapore Butadiene Unit to Use BASF Process

Shell Chemicals says that its previously announced 155,000-m.t./year butadiene plant at Bukom Island, Singapore will use BASF’s butadiene extraction technology, licensed through ABB Lummus Global (CW, April 11/18, p. 17). Lummus and Toyo Engineering have formed a joint venture to carry out engineering, procurement, and construction work on the plant.
