Shell Starts up EG Plant

Shell Chemicals has announced the start up of an ethylene glycol (EG) plant at the Shell Eastern Petrochemicals complex at Jurong Island, Singapore. The 750,000-m.t./year facility is based on Shell’s Omega process, which Shell is using for the first time. The project forms part of a much bigger petrochemicals investment in Singapore, which also includes an 800,000-m.t./year ethylene plant and a butadiene extraction facility at Bukom Island, and modifications to Shell’s Bukom refinery.
