Shell Prepares to Restart Singapore Refinery, Confirms Force Majeure on Three Petchem Products

Shell Chemicals says it is aiming to restart its refinery at Bukom Island, Singapore over the next few days and to avoid halting operations at any of its Singapore petrochemical plants including the Bukom steam cracker. The refinery was closed following a fire last week and the company is currently analyzing the causes of the accident. Shell confirms that it has declared force majeure on deliveries of ethylene glycol (EG), propylene oxide (PO), and styrene from the company’s plants at nearby Jurong Island, which receive feedstock from the 800,000-m.t./year...
