Shell Plans Another Shutdown of Singapore Cracker to Complete Repairs

Shell Chemicals has confirmed that it is planning another shutdown at its Singapore steam cracker complex “sometime in August 2011” to complete repairs. The cracker underwent an unplanned shutdown earlier this year, but it was back onstream on March 18, 2011.  “We had declared force majeure (FM) then and during that period, worked very closely with our customers and updated them regularly so as to minimise the impact on them,” a spokesman says.  Customers have been very supportive and understanding of the FM situation, he says...
