Lanxess opens butyl rubber plant in Singapore, commits to Asia

BIG EVENT: Lanxess inaugurates butyl rubber plant at Jurong Island. Lanxess today held an official inauguration ceremony for a world-scale butyl rubber production facility at Jurong Island, Singapore. The project, involving capital expenditure of €400 million ($523.2 million), is Lanxess’s largest single investment since the company was created in 2004. The plant with a design capacity for 100,000 m.t./year, will produce mainly bromobutyl rubber, the high-end of butyl rubber spectrum with applications mainly in more-modern tubeless tires.
