Lanxess Further Delays Construction of Butyl Rubber Facility in Singapore

Lanxess says it is postponing the construction of its new butyl rubber facility in Singapore due to fall in demand, and that production is now scheduled to start in 2014. The 100,000 m.t./year plant with an investment of about €400 million had been originally due on stream in 2010, and in December 2008 Lanxess had announced it will delay completion of the plant until 2012.
