Evonik Begins Construction of Methionine Plant in Singapore

Evonik Industries says it has today broken ground on the previously announced €500-million ($612 million) methionine complex at Jurong Island, Singapore. The project is the company’s largest individual investment to date. The manufacturing complex is expected to become operational in the third quarter of 2014 and will have a production capacity of 150,000 m.t./year of methionine, increasing Evonik’s total capacity to 580,000 m.t./year.
