Regions :: Southeast Asia Unilever to phase out microplastics by 201511:55 AM MST | January 2, 2013 | Kara Sissell Unilever says it will phase out the use of microplastics as a “scrub” in all personal care products by 2015, according to the Associated Press. The move is in response to concerns by some scientists and environmental groups that the plastics damage marine life. At issue are the tiny polyethylene beads used in a wide variety of personal care items, including soaps and exfoliants. Unilever is one of the world’s largest personal care companies, with brand names including Axe and Dove. Some scientists say the small plastic beads are harmful...
