Toray hikes Thai nylon-6,6 fiber capacity for automotive airbags

Toray Industries says it will increase production capacity of nylon fiber used for automobile airbags in Thailand. The company will raise capacity of nylon-6,6 fiber for automotive airbag applications at its Thai Toray Synthetic (TTS) subsidiary’s Ayutthaya plant by building an additional production facility with capacity for 7,000 m.t./year. The new unit, expected to start production in January 2015, will raise TTS’s nylon-6,6 fiber capacity to 23,000 m.t./year.
