Shell Builds Plant in Singapore to Demonstrate DPC Technology

Shell has announced plans to build a 500-m.t./year demonstration unit at the company's Jurong Island, Singapore site to manufacture diphenyl carbonate (DPC), a raw material for polycarbonate production. The plant will be based on novel, proprietary technology developed by Shell. The new process is phosgene free and expected to have significant advantages in terms of cost, safety, efficiency, and carbon footprint, Shell says.
