GTAT signs equipment, technology agreement for polysilicon project in Malaysia

GT Advanced Technologies (GTAT; Merrimack, NH) has signed a $336-million supply agreement with Cosmos Chemicals (Kuala Lumpur) to provide equipment and technology for a 25,000-m.t./year polysilicon facility in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, GTAT announced today. The project is sponsored by Project Management & Development Co. (Al Jubail). Cosmos is currently securing final financing for the project, subject to which GT expects the project to commence in phases beginning with the commissioning of engineering work followed by an equipment order.
