Climate Change Negotiators Gear Up for Tough Post-Kyoto Talks

Boer: Response needs to be global. All roads now lead to Bali, Indonesia for the next stage of the world’s organized response to climate change. Senior government ministers from around the globe will convene in Bali in December at a United Nations (UN) meeting to start hammering out a new international climate change treaty. The planned treaty will succeed the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012. Kyoto requires a relatively modest 5% collective reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2012, compared with 1990 levels.
