Regions :: Southeast Asia Arkema and CJ break ground for bio-methionine and thiochemicals complex in Malaysia4:08 AM MDT | October 8, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Arkema and its partner CJ Cheil-Jedang (Seoul) held a ground breaking ceremony today for their previously announced bio-methionine plant and a thiochemicals manufacturing complex at Kerteh, Malaysia. CJ is contributing its industrial bio-fermentation technology to produce L-methionine, a bio-amino acid for animal feed, from renewable feedstocks. Arkema, meanwhile, is providing its process to produce methyl mercaptan , a sulfur based intermediate used in the production of methionine. The complex is scheduled to come on stream by end 2013.
