Regions :: South America :: Venezuela Natural Gas Shortage Pinches Methanex Profits12:09 PM MST | November 9, 2007 | Kara Sissell Argentina’s natural gas shortage has curtailed many chemical companies’ operations in the region, but Methanex’s Chilean methanol units are among the hardest hit, analysts say. Insufficient natural gas supply in Argentina has caused Methanex to idle three of its four plants at Cabo Negro, Chile, near Punta Arenas, since June. The site has combined capacity of 2.9 million m.t./year; Methanex did not provide details on current production. Aitken: Gas supply woes continue.
